The World Financial Center is the hottest place to be this winter with music, dance and film, some world or New York premieres, all free, all fun and all toasty warm.

The winter season at the World Financial Center starts with the world debut of Lower Manhattan's own classical music ensemble, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra conducted by Music Director Gary S. More music of different genres follows when Baby Jane Dexter & Her Trio create a lunchtime cabaret in the Winter Garden February 6, at 12:30 pm and Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition takes the stage February 28 at 10:30 am for six and a half hours of music.

John Schaefer, host and producer of WNYC Radio's popular shows New Sounds and Soundcheck, returns to the World Financial Center Winter Garden with his annual collection of silent films with live music. The Cinematic Orchestra
Man with a Movie Camera
Thursday, February 12, 7:00 pm in the World Financial Center Winter Garden, 220 Vesey Street

The Cinematic Orchestra's soundtrack to Dziga Vertov's avant-garde film, Man With a Movie Camera, whips up a maelstrom of moody, electronica-tinged jazz-funk resulting in a collection of brilliant songs whose chord progressions and emotional content reflect the movie's rhythm. Made as propaganda, this pivotal film was experimental both in subject matter and execution as it contained editing techniques and superimposition that were radically innovative for the time.

"For over two decades, we've presented exceptional music, art, theater and film in the World Financial Center Winter Garden, making it the center of the downtown arts scene," said Debra Simon, Artistic Director of Arts World Financial Center.
