The hottest way, or at least the warmer way, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year is under the palm trees of the World Financial Center Winter Garden, 220 Vesey Street, when Niall O'Leary Irish Dance Troupe brings Irish stepdance downtown on Tuesday, March 17, at 12:30pm for a free dance concert.

Niall O'Leary Irish Dance Troupe will perform classic and modern Irish stepdance, which is known throughout the world for rapid leg movements with the body and arms being kept largely stationary and for its quick, precise movements of the feet. This acclaimed, high-energy dance troupe is led by former All-Ireland and World Champion dancer Niall O'Leary and is comprised of an international roster of dancers and musicians. Mr. O'Leary is a much sought-after choreographer and workshop instructor and has choreographed shows for Comhaltas in Dublin and in the United States. In 1996 he put together and choreographed the first ever multi-national team to compete in the World Irish Dance Championships, including dancers from Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Belgium, Australia, Botswana, USA and Ireland. Mr. O’Leary is the director of the largest Irish Dance school in New York City and is also a practicing architect. "For over two decades, we've presented exceptional music, art, theater and film in the World Financial Center Winter Garden, making it the center of the downtown arts scene," said Debra Simon, Artistic Director of Arts World Financial Center. Arts World Financial Center is sponsored by American Express, Battery Park City Authority, Brookfield Properties and Merrill Lynch. Admission is free for all events.
