WHY:
The River To River Festival, New York’s largest free summer arts festival, and arts> World Financial Center present the final competitive round of American Ballroom Theater’s “Colors of the Rainbow” Team Match.
Made famous by the acclaimed 2005 documentary “Mad Hot Ballroom” and the 2006 feature film “Take the Lead” (starring Antonio Banderas as program founder Pierre Dulaine), the Colors of the Rainbow championship match showcases the twelve top student dancers from the citywide program.
At 1pm, 4th and 5th grade students from New York City’s public schools will foxtrot, merengue, rumba, swing, and tango their way to the gold.
At 4pm, audiences will join high-profile program supporters Caroline Kennedy and Vanessa Williams in cheering on the 8th grade finalists.
