World Financial Center Celebrates the Holidays with Month-Long Festival of Light and Sound

Famed Winter Garden, aglow with 100,000 Lights, to Host Free Holiday Events, including New York Theatre Ballet’s Nutcracker, Pharoah’s Daughter Concert, and More

New York, NY (November 2, 2010) – The World Financial Center’s month-long Festival of Light and Sound will celebrate the holiday season with free dance, caroling, live music, and one of Manhattan’s most dazzling indoor light displays.

On December 1, the celebration kicks off with the illumination of 100,000 holiday lights, transforming the glass-housed Winter Garden into a life-size snowglobe. The lighting ceremony will be followed by a performance of Tchaikovsky's classic The Nutcracker by the New York Theatre Ballet.

The celebration will continue throughout the month with caroling by the Big Apple Chorus, afternoon visits from St. Nick (December 11-12), and a diverse mix of live performances, including:
